Almost exclusively, craft beer is marketed to men. We created Lumberjane Brewing Co. to tap into the largely missed market of women craft beer-drinkers. Our concept was simple: create a craft beer brand that is representative of all women—beautiful and tough.

In WW2, women took a wide variety of civilian jobs that had once been filled by men. The photos in these ads are of real women employed as loggers during WW2, sourced from digital photography collections from the National Archives. The copy was written with working women in mind and with an "anything you can do, I can do better" attitude.

Earthy tones and dusty pink were chosen as the brand colors to be neutral with a hint of femme. Flannel plaid, associated with male lumberjacks, was given a feminine bent displayed in the Lumberjane brand colors and was used as accents throughout the packaging.
